Prime Minister Marjan Šarec has announced he has ordered the closure of the border with Italy. The measure, which Šarec said was modeled on Austria's, does not apply for cargo transport. In a statement, he said that the number of corona-virus cases had risen by another three to reach 34 this afternoon.

The National Security Council adopted several measures on Monday to curb the spread of coronavirus, the most notable being temperature screenings that are to be introduced at Ljubljana airport. Extra measures are planned on the land border as well. The cabinet has prepared a EUR 1bn stimulus package to mitigate the impact on the economy.
