Slovenia Presented at World Travel Market in London

Slovenia was presented as a green, attractive and healthy tourist destination at the World Travel Market (WTM) event in London on Tuesday as tourism officials met representatives of British and global media houses.

Head of the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) Maja Pak told the press that WTM London was an excellent opportunity to inform the global tourism and media public about the events and activities in Slovenia.

In focus of this year’s presentation of Slovenia at the event is the country’s capital Ljubljana as the 2016 Green Capital of Europe, according to her.

Pak noted that Slovenia had been well promoted in the UK media recently, which had resulted in a growth of the number of British tourists. Their number in the first nine months of 2015 was up by 23% year-on-year.

With 4% of total arrivals, the British market is the fifth biggest market for the Slovenian tourism industry. The most attractive destinations are Slovenian mountains and Ljubljana, according to the STO.

Slovenian natural spas are also recording a steep growth in the number of British guests, who place third in terms of the average length of their stay, after Russians and Dutch.
