Millionaire From America Got Dream Job of Shepherd at Velika Planina

We could learn a lot about marketing and promotion from the emerging Eko resort at the foot of Velika Planina plateau. Their call for applications for a dream job of a shepherd in their ecological holiday resort has been answered by more than 3,000 candidates, and the response came as a surprise even to the initiators of the tender.

The call for applications for a dream job of a shepherd promoted online through an original video has triggered an unbelievable response from all over the world; the applications keep pouring in. According to the representatives of Eko resort the candidates are of different occupations, and from different countries, from America to Australia. A great number of applicants is from Hungary, and from Slovenia as well.

From the shortlisted candidates two have already been chosen and will be retained.“From ten candidates who made it to the short list a wealthy man from America was chosen, a millionaire who even offered to pay for the job, and a barely literate quite ordinary young man from Macedonia,” Matjaž Zorman,Director of the Palmieri company, the investor and owner of the project, explained. The tender is still opened, and the chosen candidates will start working in September, when the settlement in Godič will be completed. According to initial plans only a half of the planned settlement should be completed by May, but then the plan was changed and the entire settlement will be finished by the end of this summer.

New tourist product
The tender for a dream job still attracts a lot of attention. “This dream job became quite well known, also through televisions of Hungary, Croatia and a number of commercial televisions, and the response was unbelievable. Because of that we believe it could become a new tourist product,”Zorman explains.

Obviously Palmieri hardly expected professional shepherds to apply for the job. They do want motivated people with positive energy, those who like children, animals and nature, and can speak the English language.
