Handball: Slovenia Secure Rio Berth

Slovenian handballers secured a place among the twelve teams that will compete at the Rio Olympics with a 33:17 win against Iran at the qualifying tournament in Malmo on Sunday.

Having previously defeated Spain and lost to Sweden, Slovenia delivered a resounding win against underdogs Iran, which was only able to keep pace for the first 15 minutes of the game. Slovenia went into halftime with a nine-goal lead and kept up the pace throughout the second half. The national team had competed in the Olympics only twice.
